°JOYCE EVANS (1929-2019) - ‘MY AUSTRALIA’

FOR YEARS I HAVE BEEN PHOTOGRAPHING AUSTRALIA AND AUSTRALIANS. AT THE HEART OF MY WORK IS ‘MY FAMILY, MY AUSTRALIA AND MY PHOTOGRAPHY’ THE RICH COLOURS OF THE AUSTRALIAN LANDSCAPE SEDUCE ME; THE LUSH CONTRASTS AND WORN SURFACES DEFINE THE LAND. MY CAMERA HAS BEEN THE TOOL FOR ME TO EXPERIENCE THE MANY ASPECTS OF AUSTRALIA AND TO MAKE THOSE IMAGES WHICH FOR ME EXPRESS IT’S ESSENTIAL QUALITIES. PHOTOGRAPHS ARE NOT TAKEN, THEY ARE FOUND AND MADE.
